Adult Education
The General Directory for Catechesis gives priority to the Faith
Formation of adults:
"'Catechesis for adults, since it deals with persons who are capable
of an adherence that is fully responsible, must be considered the chief
form of catechesis. All the other forms, which are indeed always
necessary, are in some way oriented to it.' This implies that the
catechesis of other age groups should have it for a point of reference
and should be expressed in conjunction with it, in a coherent
catechetical program suitable to meet the pastoral needs of
dioceses."
(#59) General Directory for Catechesis. USCC, 1998.
... the continuing education of adults is situated not at the periphery of the Church's educational mission but at its centre. (#43) To Teach as Jesus Did. USCC, 1972.
There are many bodies within the diocese of Wagga Wagga that contribute to, and provide opportunities for adults to further their Faith Formation by accessing resources at a diocesan or parish level.
Programmes available are provided with the needs of parishes in mind recognising that local requests form the best basis for the provision of services and material.
Deanery and diocesan networks enrich the experiences of adults and enhance adult Faith Formation groups within parishes as well as modelling Gospel endeavour in universal Church.
