What is SRE?

Schools and is education in the beliefs and practices of an approved
religious persuasion by authorised representatives of that persuasion.

Generally SRE lessons are held weekly and are of thirty minutes duration.
There are three main requirements of the Department of Education and
Communities for the implementation of SRE:
Churches or SRE Providers must be approved (have the approval of the
Minister for Education to deliver SRE)
SRE teachers (catechists) must be authorised
Curriculum- materials and pedagogy- must be authorised
